...

And as she approached the door
She thought not once
About turning the brass knob
Or turning away

And as she pried the silver hinges
From their bindings
She tore away the final door
But rejected its invitation

Once I saw her across the river
The wooden door carried underneath
Her apparition arms

And I asked her
Why she holds the door
She answered across the murmuring waters
With a salutation:
“This is not a door.
This is a bridge.”

I salute you
My friend
As you exit
Into your new beginning
